Federal & State Social Security Administration
For most clients, the Social Security Administration (SSA) is the foundational point of contact for income and disability support.
- Social Security Administration Local Field Offices (New Hampshire)
- Includes offices for Concord, Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, Keene, and Littleton.
- Purpose: Application for SSI/SSDI, reporting changes in income, and requesting benefit verification letters.
New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
The DHHS manages state-level programs that are essential for healthcare and daily living support.
- Bureau of Family Assistance (BFA)
- Purpose: Eligibility determination for Medicaid (Granite Advantage), SNAP (Food Stamps), and TANF
- Bureau of Developmental Services (BDS)
- Purpose: Managing the "Area Agency" system for individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries.

Purpose: Assisting individuals with disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep jobs
Work Incentives Planning & Assistance (WIPA)
Purpose: Explaining how working will impact your current SSI/SSDI benefits (Ticket to Work program).
Legal & Advocacy Organizations
When benefits are denied or complex legal transitions occur, these nonprofit resources offer additional protection.
Purpose: Protection and advocacy for the rights of NH residents with disabilities.
Purpose: Civil legal aid for seniors and low-income individuals regarding housing and benefits.
Medicare & Insurance Counseling
Purpose: Free, unbiased counseling for Medicare (SHIP program) and long-term care options.
